ModelE8257C

The Agilent E8257C Signal Generator offers low phase noise, high power, and analog modulation.  Providing premium performance at an affordable price, the E8257C PSG analog signal generator delivers industry-leading output power, superior level accuracy, low phase noise, and precision analog modulation for accurate characterization of RF and microwave components and devices. It typically eliminates the need of an external amplifier for testing high power devices and minimizes test uncertainty to identify errors early in the design process and reduce development time. The Agilent E8257C  PSG provides advanced capabilities; including narrow pulses for radar test applications and ramp sweep for continuous sweep measurements and fully automated use with the Agilent 8757D scalar network analyzer.

You can customize the Agilent E8257C for RF and microwave test applications ranging from LO substitution and simple distortion test to general-purpose troubleshooting and transceiver design verification. A variety of optional performance enhancements and accessories are available. Its modular architecture makes it easy to configure the PSG to address your specific test application, providing the level of performance you need today and the option to upgrade in the future.

Features of the Agilent E8257C include:

  • Broad frequency ranges - 250 kHz to 20 GHz or 40 GHz with .001 Hz resolution
  • High output power - typical performance up to +16 dBm standard and up to +24 dBm optional at 20 GHz with excellent level accuracy
  • Optional SSB close-in phase noise - typically over 30 dBc/Hz improvement at 1 kHz offset from carrier
  • Flexible analog modulation formats - AM, FM, ØM, and pulse
  • Dual internal modulation generators - sine, square, triangular, ramp, and noise waveforms
  • Easy frequency extension - up to 110 GHz with Agilent's 83550 Series mm-wave modules
  • Narrow pulse modulation - 10 ns rise/fall times and 20 ns pulse width from 10 MHz to 40 GHz
  • High rate analog ramp sweep - features code compatibility with the Agilent 8757D scalar network analyzer
  • Convenient sweep modes - analog ramp sweep, digital step sweep, and list sweep
