The M8040A is a J-BERT class bit error ratio tester for physical-layer characterisation and compliance testing of PAM4 and NRZ interfaces up to 64 GBaud. It is built from AXIe modules: the M8045A pattern generator and clock module with M8057A remote heads, and the M8046A error analyser. It offers real-time PAM4 error detection up to 58 GBaud, built-in de-emphasis, equalisation, clock recovery and integrated jitter injection.
Typically supplied in an M9505A 5-slot AXIe chassis, optionally with an M9537A embedded controller, and controlled via M8070B system software. Used for 200/400 GbE, OIF-CEI-56G/112G, PCIe 5.0, USB4, 64G/128G Fibre Channel, SATA/SAS and PON receiver and transmitter testing.
