The M8050A is a high-performance BERT for characterising chips, transceiver modules, boards and systems with serial I/O up to 120 GBd. It supports NRZ, PAM3, PAM4, PAM6 and PAM8 line coding with built-in seven-tap de-emphasis and calibrated jitter injection for receiver tolerance testing. Real-time error analysis is available up to 64 GBd PAM4 with integrated clock recovery and equalisation.
The system is built from the M8042A 120 GBd pattern generator (1 or 2 channels) with M8058A/M8059A remote heads and the M8043A 64 GBd error analyser with M8052A remote head, in a 5-slot AXIe chassis; it can also use M8045A, M8046A and M8054A modules from the M8040A platform. Aimed at 800G/1.6T Ethernet, OIF-CEI-112G/224G, PCIe and USB testing, and can be paired with a UXR oscilloscope as error detector up to 224 GBd.
