The N4960A is a compact serial BERT built around a clock synthesiser/controller with integrated jitter injection, used with N4951A/N4951B pattern generator and N4952A error detector remote heads. With 17 Gb/s or 32 Gb/s heads it covers 4 to 17 Gb/s or 5 to 32 Gb/s in a single band without gaps. The remote heads can be placed close to the device under test.
Two controller versions: CJ0 with single-tone SJ/PJ injection and CJ1 with multi-tone SJ, RJ and spread-spectrum clock. Remote control via USB or GPIB; used for 100 GbE, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, SerDes and optical module testing, and as a clock source for the N4965A.
